I used some Kaffe Fassett shot cottons that were scraps from another project. I love the colors and the idea behind this project, but I cut the leaf a bit too big. I still like it, but it needs a larger neutral border around the leaf to emphasize the image. Despite that, I still like having it on our couch. I love pillows because they are such quick projects. I also had a lot of fun with the quilting on this. This spiral is definitely one of my favorites.
The back is pieced from some larger scraps. I used an invisible zipper on the bottom for the closure.
Here is the Instagram shot of the pieced top before finishing. I am thinking of making a second pillow. I'll get my scale right next time so it looks more like a leaf in the finished pillow.
I like the over sized leaf! I could tell it was a leaf right away!
ReplyDeleteI am NUTS about this pillow. I love every single thing about it. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I think the scale is perfect! Very modern
ReplyDeleteVery cool, Kati! What a great use for shot cottons!!
ReplyDeleteThat's really pretty!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Could you imagine couch full of such pillows?
ReplyDeleteKati, it looks marvellous! I agree that you should cover your whole couch with leaf cushions.
ReplyDeleteE xx
The quilting totally changes the patchwork. I have been meaning to try the spiral quilting and now that I look at the cushion I realise that is a good sized project to start it on. Great work
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have also forgot how the pillow curves around the insert when planning a design, but it does look great as it is.
ReplyDeleteFabulous!!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! I like that it is oversized (though a smaller leaf would also look great. In fact, they'd make a great pair!).
ReplyDeleteOh how fun, love the quilting on it too
