Originally I planned to do some fancy fmq, but in the end decided to echo the design with random straight lines. Much easier, and I like the results. I think it works better with the quilt design.
Here are my nephews' quilts together. The fabrics are all the same colors, although different light in the photos makes the oranges look quiet different. The plaid quilt has truer colors. I finished the big brother's quilt last year.
I designed the plaid quilt such that I could make a smaller size as well. I'm thinking of doing a throw in the same design sometime soon and even writing up a pattern once my kiddos are back in school.
luv both the quilts-great colors and I like the quilting on the plaid!
ReplyDeletegreat job!
The quilt is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think you should write a pattern. There are lots of quilters who love to quilt but are terrified of trying to figure things out on there own. Once the kids are back in school, of course. :-)
It's fantastic! I was hoping I'd read something about a pattern as I scrolled down. I've wanted to make a plaid quilt for awhile now but haven't sat down to figure it out. =)
ReplyDeleteKati, you're a genius! It turned out great!
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice finish. I love the colours and you're right, the quilting is great for the pattern.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Your quilt turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI love it - the quilting is perfect for it and the backing is a nice touch too :-)
ReplyDeleteIts perfect colors and a perfect pattern for a young boy to grow with...very nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!!
ReplyDeleteWell that's great it can see him through for years rather than him growing out of it :o)
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome! I think the straight line quilting is perfect.
