A while back I ordered a cute bundle of
Nursery Versery from
Intrepid Thread. I love how adorable and sweet this line is. I didn't have any need for a baby quilt, but wanted to stitch it up anyway. I chose a very simple design. I rarely do quilts from just squares, but these fabrics needed to stay a bit larger to show off the illustrations. Those little mice are too cute to cut up. I made this with 6" finished squares. I used all the colors and prints and mixed in some Yarn-dyed Essex in Flax. The flax has quickly become my favorite linen blend. It adds great texture to the quilt, while still being relatively easy to work with. It washes up nicely as well.
For the backing I used a few larger pieces of fabrics leftover from the front. The binding is Essex Linen in lime. The final size of the quilt is 48" x 48".
I quilted this with a large flower design. It was fun practice since I'm trying to push myself a bit after taking
Angela Walters' quilting class on Craftsy.
This is so cute-I love how you laid out the squares and mixed in some solid!

ReplyDeleteQuilting looks really good Kati. I've been practicing! I find the second half to two thirds of the quilting looks really good because I've found my groove by then, even if I've practiced beforehand!

ReplyDeleteGreat quilting. Angela is a great and generous teacher.
