Some of the accomplishments for the week:
Exploring a farm.
Taking some photos of my cousin's brand new beautiful boy. I stayed up way too late last night getting them all edited.
Miss A posing during a break in said photo session. I rarely get photos of her sitting still.
Finally, there has been quilting too. Or at least basting. I basted three quilts yesterday. I like to save them up and do several at once since it means cleaning up the over-spray only once. Now to find the time to quilt them. I'm thinking I might start tonight when everyone is finally asleep.
Current WIPs...
- I'm waging war on the ants who think my kitchen is now their home.
- I'm trying to keep this disaster of a house clean when three little mini-destroyers can wreck it 10xs faster than I can clean it. I usually surrender until after they are all in bed.
- I have officially won the war on laundry for today.
- I'm getting ready to send Miss C off to kindergarten in a couple weeks. I'm terrified and excited for her at the same time. She is so dang excited for "5-year-old school".
- My twins will start preschool in less than two weeks. I will be kid-less for 2.5 hours three days a week. I'm kind of excited about that, but at the same time sad. They are all just getting so big.
- I'm debating on chopping my hair short again. It's currently longer than it's been since I was four years old, and I'm a bit tired of having so much hair.
- I have a very fun quilt pattern in my head that I'm planning to develop into my first PDF quilt pattern for sale. I'm excited to try this new venture.
- My 5-month-old smart phone died last week. My replacement arrives tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting it back. I have missed going through Google Reader while listening to Pandora when I exercise on the elliptical in the morning. Although, not having it for a week has made me realize I need to stop taking so many pictures with it and pull out my DSLR more. There is no comparison in quality.
- I'm going to Wicked tomorrow with the hubs! It was my Christmas present, and I have been looking forward to it since December.
Great pics! I still haven't won the laundry war. Have a great time at Wicked - I've been wanting to see that but it is always sold out!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing because this is my life. I found a quote on pinterest, "Cleaning house while the kids are home is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing." That's why I'm looking forward to school starting next week so I can reclaim my house from chaos. ;)
ReplyDeleteLaughing at the WIPs, but boo to the phone dying so quickly! Enjoy Wicked :o)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy seeing Wicked! I have heard it is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLOVED this post!!! I loved Wicked! have fun!
ReplyDeleteHere is a little all natural way to get rid of ants. They are repelled by cinnamon. Yes regular cinnamon. Its ground up bark and if you create a line of it by where they come in it will keep them out. I use it at work, sprinkle a line across window sills and doorways. I thought it was an old wives tale but I had so many ants at work I was desperate. I still keep it around the edge of my desk and office doors. Once a line of ants swarmed under the front door of my home. I grabbed the cinnamon and out lined the swarm. Then I swept the cinnamon closer until I had them in the doorway and swept them out. Then left a line of cinnamon in the doorway. No more ants!
ReplyDeleteHave so much fun a Wicked!! My Twin sister is going tonight :) So much fun!! And I can't wait to see your first pattern. Writing them is a pain but once you get past that, it is wonderful :)

ReplyDeleteI see I have been beaten by Colleen, I was just coming to comment to suggest trying cinnamon for the ants! I have it all along the edges of my lounge patio doors, as well as round doorframes/skirting boards etc in my kitchen. They kept finding new ways in, but I think I have finally won! Word of warning though, don't get wet clothes/material in contact with the cinnamon, it stains and will not come out! Ask me how I know... lol ;)
ReplyDeleteWicked is totally the best! I've seen in twice within the last year and would go again in a heartbeat. Enjoy! (love your photos, too :) )
ReplyDeleteYour pile of basted quilts looks like QuiltCon colors. Looking forward to seeing them unfolded.
ReplyDeleteYay for your pattern! I'd like to write a few some day as well. Good luck!
Beautiful pictures! I just recently cut 12-13 inches off my hair and will be sending it off to Locks of Love. I don't know about you but all that hair was giving me hair headaches...so that's when I knew it was time to cut it!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your "alone time" each day when you children head to school!
Excellent WIP post! I love how you are so good at keeping things real and reminding us that quilting isn't the only thing in life. :)
ReplyDeleteEveryday life with the family is the best WIP there is in my book. Best wishes on sending the littles off to school. I have lots of mixed emotions around those first few weeks too.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the kiddos and it's fun to see Wheeler Farm. Hope you had fun at Wicked!
