Another month is gone of my stash busting year. I did pretty good this month, but did buy some fabric for certain projects. I'm not going cold turkey with fabric buying like I planned, but I have become much more careful about what I buy.
Over the weekend I organized all my fabric. I refolded everything using Jeni's tutorials from In Color Order. It all looks so nice now. I have all my fabric organized by color except a certain few collections I want to keep together. I have 1 1/2 boxes of green, but only 1/4 box of purple. It really helped me realize what my favorite colors are.
I finished two toy bags from fabric that has been in the stash for 2+ years. Love this pattern.
As a fun little addition to Slash the Stash this month, Pink Castle Fabrics is sponsoring our link-up party! Brenda is giving one lucky winner this fabulous bundle of Sketch Basics. Plus if you don't win, you can still get 15% off this fun stack. Use the code SLASH15 in her Etsy Shop and receive 15% off right now.
The giveaway is now closed.
Just leave a comment.Link-up a stash-busting project from February.Visit Brenda's Pink Castle Fabrics Etsy Shop, and check out her selection. Tell us what you would like to add to your stash (I know it's kind of counter-productive, but it's still fun to shop even if you're trying to use your stash. I figure as long as I use more than I buy, I'm still slashing the stash!).
So now it's your turn. What have you been working on from the stash?
I love how you fabric is sorted
ReplyDeleteYou look so organized now! Your fabric looks great.
ReplyDeleteI'm really digging the sketch fabrics. Thanks for sharing.
I love the sketch fabrics! Thank you for hosting a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love Hope Valley, so I would gladly add some more to my stash! :)
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish my stash was so organized! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to buy mostly basics. I love the Crosshatch fabrics, the Shot Cottons and the Grey and White Spring Buds from the Echo collection.
ReplyDeleteSuch bright and fun colors with such a simple print! Swoon :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of the new Moda prints, but I think I might need to make a little girl's quilt from A Walk in the Woods, I think that's my favorite.
ReplyDeleteLove how you organize your fabrics, my stash is just a random mass. It's on my list of to-dos this year to finally get some storage for my sewing room... I love that Sketch bundle from Brenda! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the rainbow colors from your stash. It makes this dreary morning much more sunny in my office.
ReplyDeleteI love Pink Castle Fabrics, Brenda is just awesome! I think I'd love some of the folksy flannels.
ReplyDeleteI really might need to get some of that Heather Ross Wildflowers print. It makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteYour stash looks great! What fun it is to play with the stash while organizing it - and rediscovering fabrics we forgot about!
ReplyDeletei really need to sort my stash... just another thing to add to the 'to do' list! great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI have actually been eyeing that sketch bundle for some time now - this may finally do me in! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove that bundle! You've inspired me to get my stash organized, many thanks!
ReplyDeleteI need to tidy my stash, I could organise it at the same time too! I've made some of those bags too, the pattern is awesome, I've used Amy Butler fabrics I've had stashed for years! thanks for a great giveaway bundle
ReplyDeleteYour stash looks so great! I love when my stash is organized, but for some reason, it always winds up getting unorganized after a bit. I think it might be time for another organizing day for my stash real soon! I've got piles of fabric and scraps that need homes!
ReplyDeleteI've had a browse around Brenda's shop and think I'd go for Pezzy Prints, I could do with some basics! thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI don't have much stash to slash so maybe I better do the opposite and go shopping!
ReplyDeleteI think I need a big rainbow pile of those metro circles before they're gone
ReplyDeleteWow, your photos make me want to rearrange my fabric! So pretty...!
ReplyDeleteGreat organization. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteoooo I love this scetch fabric!
ReplyDeleteWith Spring on the horizon, I think some of the gingham prints would be a nice addition.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've folded your fabrics, it makes me want to go organize!
I know exactly what I would order, I just put in an order 2 days ago! You know, right before the coupon codes started showing up yesterday... doh!
ReplyDeleteHopefully starting the journey for me today is some Hope Valley, JD's Herringbone print, a little bit of Kona Cerise & my first spool of Aurifil!
Ooh, your stash looks so pretty organised like that!
ReplyDeleteI've been hovering over the buy button on that bundle, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for now, thanks for the chance to win :o)
I should make some of those bags. They wpuld use up some stash
ReplyDeleteWell if I don't win them, I might just use that coupon on that bundle!
ReplyDeleteThose sketch fabrics look great! Wish I had my stash as organized as yours. Thanks for the chance to win. nkadenver@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI really have no stash so this month I've been working to build mine.
ReplyDeleteI just made a major dent in my solids, so these would be a great addtion. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteYour fabric looks so great all sorted out in the totes. I just love seeing the rainbows all grouped :)
ReplyDeleteI love the 1/2 Yard Pastry Line Bundle Little Folks Voile by Anna Maria Horner at Pink Chalk Fabrics. What a great stash builder :)
ReplyDeleteI so need to do this with my fabrics...It hurts my eyes to look at the way I have my fabric folded its so awful!! Love those drawstring totes, such a fun pattern!
ReplyDeleteI bought and used a couple of those sketch fabrics! Some went into my mouthy stitches swap (finished project) and some more are going into my stained qal project (in the cutting phase).
ReplyDeleteAfter looking around the shop, I would really like to add some mono pezzy prints to my stash! Gotta use some other stuff up first though to make room!
ReplyDeleteThose sketchy fabrics are the exact things I would add. I've been eying them for a while.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've already had my eye on those sketch fabrics! I'd get those in a heartbeat if I had the budget.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win! And I love the citrus sunrise fat quarter collection, it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great challenge too, though including a coupon code might mean I'll have a bigger stash to slash soon! Thank you thank you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting so organized! Our biggest WIP right now is unfortunately our house, so my sewing stash is not in its proper closet and it is totally throwing me off! No real stash busting for me lately either...BOO!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and very organized stash! Great giveaway too - what great fabrics to add to any stash.
ReplyDeleteI also checked out the etsy store - I think I may need to add the Pezzy prints to my stash soon too!
ReplyDeleteI have the same issue: i have a tray and a half of green and less than half a tray of purple. Purple is the elusive color!! Congrats on getting organized. ; )
ReplyDeleteI love these Sketch prints! They would be a great addition to my stash...thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI just checked out the Etsy store...I have been wanting the Pezzy prints! I might have to buy some!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stash there. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I can't imagine having such a beautiful rainbow of fabrics!! Love your stash. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay - it's official. I am completely in awe of your organized stash!
ReplyDeleteBoring, but I love the solids in her etsy shop. And the gingham prints that are also shown in the "solids" category.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love this stack! Can this count as what I want to buy but shouldn't?
ReplyDeleteThose containers are the best! I like how it has the squares on the lid to keep them all locked together.
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics are great! They remind me of coloring with graph pencils.
I think I would choose the sketch basics above! I am loving the almost solids lately. :)
ReplyDeleteI am super impressed with you organization. I would love to do something like this, but then it would show just how much fabric I do have.
ReplyDeleteLovely rainbow colours! I wish my fabric was as beautifully organised as yours.
ReplyDeleteI am actually grateful to have a stash now that my daughter is learning how to sew! It will give us some fun choices for projects without having to visit the fabric store when she wants to make something!
ReplyDeleteI love that bundle! What a great stash builder!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much goodness over at Pink Chalk, but I'd love to have the Pez bundle...I'm all about building my stash with basic prints like that!

ReplyDeleteLove getting to peak at your fabric--although it does make me want to addd some more pieces to my stash! Those Sketch Basics are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou are an organizational inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteThat exact bundle is on my wish list, so that's what I would pick... IF I were stash shopping ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great bundle! Perfect for adding to any stash. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love that bundle of fabric
ReplyDeleteI think a Bella Solids jelly roll would fit great in my stash (they are perfect for sashing and binding). Preferably in Porcelain or Silver.
ReplyDeleteThat Hope Valley bundle of 1/2 yards would be wonderful to use.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to pick just one thing--however I would go with anything in the Urban Cowgirl collection-I've picked up a couple of charm packs and some yardage from my local quilt shop and am in love with it and waiting for just the right project to use it.
ReplyDeleteI love how neatly organized your stash looks. Mine is actually folded somewhat nicely and on a shelf sorted by color-but not near as nice and neat looking as yours is.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love that bundle of fabrics..so pretty!
ReplyDeleteVisiting that fabric shop is definitely counter productive...lol! Love those pezzy prints...and so many other things :)
ReplyDeleteYour fabric looks lovely, all nice and neat. I need to get mine organized like that. And I love that bag pattern too.
ReplyDeleteI love the citrus sunrise FQ bundle - those colors just make me happy.
ReplyDeleteI was doing really well, but then lately I've been on a little bit of a buying binge. I've been working from my stash a lot, but I need to stop buying!
ReplyDeleteThe Hello Luscious fabric is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteTerrific giveaway! Love to have some sketch fabric! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of slashing my stash. I have been tempted to buy more fabric lately than ever before, so I think I'm going to go through and see what I can healthfully destash to other sewing friends!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you have your fabric organized. If I were that organized, I might not ever make anything again because I wouldn't want to mess everything up - ha ha! (I would though!)
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time slashing my stash... sometimes because I'm waiting for the "perfect" project to use my fabrics. [sigh] just sew, already!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely get the Pezzy Print bundle from Pink Chalk if I could - love that fabric!
ReplyDeleteI would love to get my hands on some of the Seed Catalog fabric from Pink Castle!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful stack of fabrics!
ReplyDeletethanks for the chance! love the colors
ReplyDeleteWow, your fabric looks great. I really need to do that with all of mine.

ReplyDeleteI folded my fabric using my ruler. It worked really well.
ReplyDeleteYour fabric organization looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteNot that I need more fabric (have an envelope on its way from Brenda already) but...hey! Free fabric!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving Brenda's selection of solids.
ReplyDeleteI would love to add those pezzy printy to my stash!!
ReplyDeleteI recently saw the beginning of a quilt using bright warm colours, so the Citrus Sunrise 12 Fat Quarter Blogger Bundle by EmmmyLizzzy would be a great way to make one, too. But I will not buy them now :)
ReplyDeleteThank You for hosting this great party and for a wonderful give away! I would love to win those beautiful fabrics! Your fabrics are just amazing - happy sewing!
ReplyDeletex Teje
In fact my favourites now are these Sketch basics! I would love to make a quilt with fabrics almost solids, only tiny prints or just like these are!
ReplyDeleteHappy Leap Day! Love the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWalk in the Woods or Stitch in Color charm packs would be my favorites right now. I have a couple of projects that they would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I'm having serious stash organization envy. I'm going to check out the folding tip.
ReplyDeleteI'd love some of that Half Moon Modern Scissors fabric in any color!
ReplyDeleteWow, your stash looks fabulous! I will have to read the folding tutorial. Thanks for the opportunity!

ReplyDeleteGreat stack of fabrics! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletearbendlin(at)gmail.com

ReplyDeleteIt looks so nice organized, makes it hard to actually sew something!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... so much to choose... but Fly a Kit caught my eye!! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteSure wish I had all the fabric that you organized - wowsers! Looks fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks good to me. And I want to enter this giveaway anyway!
ReplyDeleteYour fabric looks great organized. I've been working on that too.
ReplyDeleteI would be so excited to win. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI would add any of the Riley Blake fabric. Especially fly a kite. That Washi tape fabric looks really cool too.
ReplyDeletewow that Sketch Print is great!! I would love some!!
ReplyDeleteAs for favourites over at Pink Castle - I think the Sketch Print bundle or perhaps the pezzy print - although I do HAVE to get me some Reunion too!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think the fabrics she's giving away are the ones I want most. Those or shot cottons or mods cross weaves.
ReplyDeleteYour fabric looks so pretty! I need to find a better solution for mine. I feel like the space doesn't work well enough. Maybe I should try Jeni's folding method.
ReplyDeleteBrenda has a great selection. I really want to get some more Washi Star Flower prints.
ReplyDeleteI've been stash-busting too, and have only bought a few sale pieces in the past several months. Love this little collection that's being given away, though! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletethat is an amazingly generous bundle to give away! love all the colors, and they would make a lovely quilt all together!
ReplyDeletethe citrus sunrise FQ pack is sure tempting...
ReplyDeleteSo many cute prints at Pink Castle. It's difficult to pick, but I do like the Mono Pez designs. I'd take that print in just about any color! Again, I appreciate this chance to win.
ReplyDeleteWow--I'm working on my stash as well :) Haven't linked up anything, but I just might do that :)
ReplyDeleteTrying to work through my stash, too. Great basics giveaway that would enhance anyone's stash
ReplyDeleteI like the on the go fabric!! would be awesome to sew some boy clothes with fun prints!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying like mad to finish two big projects so I can move on to some stash busting projects. I have some baby quilts on my to do list. They would be perfect for stash busting.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think I did more stash-building than stash-slashing in February... better get on getting stuff made!
ReplyDeleteAnd as for wishful shopping @ Pink Castle: the Washi Tape (in cream) is really beginning to grow on me! Either that or the sketchbook rainbow, yum!
ReplyDeleteMy stash is still pretty minimal--hardly worthy of the name. I know, it's only temporary ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs I build my stash, I'm trying to stick to basics--I have a pretty good selection of solids now. On the other hand, that Citrus Sunrise bundle is very, very tempting.
ReplyDeletePretty pretty fabrics! I'm about to use some precious It's a Hoot fabric from my stash to make a quilt :)
ReplyDeleteAll that fabric.....oh, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give away! I'll have to see what I've been trying to finish up my UFO's vs starting new stash projects, but maybe once I get a few more of those done, I'll link up here, although i did make a few clothing items from my stash this month...
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'd be quite happy to come over and help you get rid of some of your stash!!
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid Brenda's shop - too much good stuff! But I'd love to add some washi.
ReplyDeleteHi, Kati,
ReplyDeleteI (Linda) did try again and now I'm allowed to make a comment. Guess whatever you did made a difference. The site still looks weird and I plan on trying a couple of things on my end, too. Thanks for your help.
I love the Sketch Basics and would love to have a chance to win. Something so versatile would just be a great addition to my stash.
PS The email you sent me was from another address I have. I usually use the gmail account. Thanks. :)
I love your stash project and the pretty stash!

I am finally ready to organize (reorganize!) my fabric so thanks for linking to the tutorial on folding fabric. I realized the other day that I need my fabric all folded the same so they fit in the containers I have. I refolded some of my fabric to match the majority of it and I like the collection a lot better.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, Sketch! Love it! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway. : )
ReplyDeleteI love these fabrics - perfect addition to any stash.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway! Yum!
ReplyDeleteOMG, the FMF!!! Dying for it to arrive!
ReplyDeleteYou are so organized! I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteYour fabric looks so nice and organized!!! I wish I had that much to organize! :o) Since I'm a new quilter I don't have very much "stash" but I'd sure love to add some! Thanks for the opportunity to win this great giveaway!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteWinning this stack would do the opposite of slashing the stash. But it'd be worth it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bundle of fabric!!! Winning it might motivate me to use it up, along with other fabric from my stash.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great organizing hint
ReplyDeletemy stash is fairly small but i've been working on changing that! yours looks great!
ReplyDeleteWoot! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Hello Pilgrim. I would like all the butterfly prints!
ReplyDeleteWould love to win that bundle!! Would really add to my very small collection of solids! Not at a stage where I need to slash my stash yet! Thanks for the opportunity
ReplyDeleteI love how pretty & organized your stash is! I also followed the fabric folding instructions from In Color Order, but my stash isn't nearly as gorgeous as yours! Thank you for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI checked out the shop, and if I could add to my stash, I'd choose something from Half Moon Modern - the scissor prints are just about the cutest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteI would probably pick something from the Hello Pilgrim range - the jewels prints would really work with my current monotone obsession!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've organised your stash! I too find that sorting by colour is the best way to see where you have holes in your collection, at least it works for me since I work by colour too.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to organize all my collection of fabric. I had forgotten about Jeni's tutorial on folding. I need to use in on all the fabric less than 1/2 yard!

ReplyDeleteI just found your blog! And I'm so excited because I also just decided to get organized and use my stash:) Great ideas!! And great folding tips!

ReplyDeleteI love the Circa 1934 FQ Bundle. Those patterns are just so cute.
ReplyDeleteWorking on slashing my stash, too! Sadly, mine is not as nicely organized as yours!
ReplyDeleteI love Brenda's shop so much, it's ridiculous--I want everything! But I also see that she's got some Washi, which has become very hard to find. Good for me to remember!
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway, and OMG I LOVE your beautifully folded fabric....
ReplyDeleteI love your drawstring bags! I must check out the pattern!
ReplyDeleteBrenda carries the Hope Valley line which I love!!
ReplyDeleteI love how organized your fabric is, I feel guilty about mine
ReplyDeleteI like Blockprint Blossom in Fuchsia Heirloom by Joel Dewberry
ReplyDeleteI love your slash the stash idea! Definitely something I want to do this year! (except that I just bought a ton of fabric last month! lol) This is something I'll have to remember and join you in each month. :) Thanks! I finished up a lot of stuff last month too, so I'll have to go find some pictures and blog about it so I can link up! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love some of that sketch basic! That and I've been keeping my eye on the Reunion collection for a while. :)
ReplyDeleteI have been working on some clothing, 2 tops for me, and a skirt and top for my daughter... Also most of my quilting projects are from my stash...
ReplyDeleteLove the sketch fabric... I really want some more solid or nearly solid fabrics...
ReplyDeleteThose would be a great addition to my stash!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever feel the need to organize again, please come to my house! Oh, and if you ever want to get rid of any of that stash, let me know! wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!
I am so new to quilting that is building a stash not removing it that I am doing. I have been working on a Granny Quilt project and have been buying all kinds of colors that I did not have. Now would be a great time to sort all of those though.
