Sewing Summit

This is something I have looked forward to all year long.  I feel so lucky I was able to go.

Friday started out with the Shop Hop.  A few of us weren't able to get tickets on the bus so we drove ahead.  It worked out great.  We were just a bit ahead of the bus crowd.  There were some great discounts (some too good to pass up).

My local guild buddies Amy and Colleen.

Friday evening I was able to go out with most of the ladies from the {Sew} Beautiful Bee.  We have been together as a group for almost a year now.  Everyone plans to stick around for year two.  We were only missing Katie and Angela.
Back: Elizabeth (Don't call me Betsy), Megan (Canoe Ridge Creations), Me, Brooke (Pitter Putter Stitch)
Front: Lee (Freshly Pieced), AnneMarie (GenXQuilters), Cherie (Sew and So Quilts ), Cara (Me? A Mom?), and Emily (Mommy's Nap Time)

I arranged another Color Wheel Charm Square swap at Sewing Summit.  This was the fabric I was waiting on from my fabric.com order that entered the black hole over there.  They did indeed express overnight it.  My package arrived at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.  Talk about cutting it close.  I was cutting charms Friday night for my own swap.

It worked out so great.  Everyone dropped off their charms and sorted their own.  I just had to check names off the list.  Poor Samantha lost her luggage including her charms.  It never arrived in Salt Lake, but we were able to work it out, and I replaced her missing fabric with some from my stash.

I was able to meet Meg from Fashioned by Meg.  She was my secret swap partner for the Spicing Up the Kitchen Swap earlier this year.

I had a chance to meet up with lots of wonderful people including Amy from Stitchery Dickory Dock and Jennifer from Ellison Lane Quilting.

I admit I was horrible at taking pictures.  There are the only ones I came home with.

Saturday was filled with classes.  I really enjoyed the ones I took, especially the color class from Jeni over at In Color Order and the mini quilts class by Amanda from Hey Porkchop.  I even won some Thangles in that class and can't wait to use them.

Saturday evening I was able to go out to dinner with a great group of bloggers organized by Jennifer and Elena from Breakfast for Dinner.  They were wonderful and even arranged fabulous swag bags for the group.  Check out their blogs.  I hear rumors they saved extra swag to give away soon on their blogs.

Sunday included two final classes and a little farewell.  I scored lots of fun stuff during the weekend and had a great time.  The best part was definitely the social aspect of the weekend.  I loved spending time with my local sewing friends as well as meeting so many new friends.  Everyone was wonderful and great fun.

Start saving your pennies because I'm absolutely sure next year will be even better.  I told my husband he doesn't have to give me presents anymore--just send me to Sewing Summit every year, and I'll be happy.

And what an awesome charm swap plan in person. None of the sorting or post office trips on your own!
