Hexagon Winner!

I hope you all had a great weekend.  Ours was pretty quiet around here.  We just played with the kiddos and did a few projects around the house.  I learned something about myself this weekend.  I am a humbug when it comes to fireworks.  I really dislike them.  I'm not talking about the amazing displays that cities put on.  I'm talking about the little ones they allow anyone to buy at the grocery store.

My dislike stems from several things.  It's having a dog who is absolutely terrified of fireworks and starts to shake at the first pop.  It's having three little kiddos sound asleep and really hoping they don't wake up with all the noise.  Finally, it's because of the apartment-dwelling punks from across the street who kicked a live firework into my yard and killed a spot on the grass.  First he kicked one into the neighbor's yard.  Then into ours.  Then we called the cops.  Unfortunately, they had disbanded before the cops arrived, but our street sure quieted down after that.  Although we're pretty sure they didn't actually do it on purpose, I want to know what kind of idiot thinks it's a good idea to play soccer with live fireworks.

Finally, #67 is the winner of the hexagons.  That is Chelsea from Pins & Bobbins.

I'm a follower!

And my weekend involved the husband coming home after 3 weeks, yay! And we signed the papers on the sale of the house so I'm relaxing and enjoying myself before the hard work of packing begins.

  1. Katie, I wholeheartedly agree with your take on fireworks! My poor English springer spaniel was near to having a heart attack for three hours last night and the night before!!! I detest fireworks, and am sure now that they've become legalized for anyone and everyone in our state of RI, there will be many injuries on top of it all! Thanks for letting me vent. And congrats to Chelsea!

  2. As a Brit, all I can say is, you wanted independence, so you have to put up with the fireworks!! Tee Hee - joking!!

Hope the grass grows back soon.
    Congrats to Chelsea x

  3. Woohoo! Thanks Kati!

Oh, and I have a fireworks story for you. When my husband and I first moved in together we adopted a stray cat that liked to hang around our building. She was pretty independent and stubborn and refused to use a litter box. Not a big issue since we lived on the ground floor - that is until Halloween came around. We decided that we wouldn't let her out and that for one day she'd just have to use the box. Everything seemed ok until the first volley of fireworks went off. She bolted for the patio door, pooping and throwing up as she went. Of course the door was closed and she collided with it, smearing puke and poop everywhere. I don't think I've laughed so hard ever! Poor girl, she wouldn't look at us fir days!
