The World of Goo--Finished!

I finished this guy up last night.  I did a couple more blocks of quilting during nap time and put the binding on after all the monkeys went to bed.  It's so satisfying to finish a big project like this.  This one was a lot of fun because it's unique.  My original idea came from Jacquie's not lost in the woods quilt from Tallgrass Prairie Studio. I gained my love of wonky log cabins from her blog.  It's such a great block because no two will ever look the same.

For those who missed it, this quilt got its name during the design process when my husband mentioned it looked similar to the video game World of Goo.  The name just stuck.  This quilt is 60" x 80" finished.  The fabrics are all Kona solids--white, black, coal, ash, and cactus.

On a side note, I took these pictures this morning while my kids were eating breakfast.  It was 3 degrees.  This was my fastest quilt photo session ever.  I'm sure my new neighbor thought I was crazy.

I loosely followed the design of the blocks while quilting.  There are approximately two rows of quilting on each border of the blocks.  I think I turned this quilt 8000 times during the quilting process.  That's why it took so much time to quilt, but I think it was worth it.

The back was lots of fun. I used all my scraps leftover from the front.  I pretty much just sewed pieces together then cut them apart randomly, rotated them and sewed them back together again.  I repeated this multiple times until I was satisfied with the result.
