Veggie Tales vs. the Dancing Queen and other randomness

I pretty much allow my three-year-old, Miss C, to have control over our car music.  It's important to her, and it's not really important to me.  So, generally we listen to Veggie Tales.  A while back we introduced her to Abba in attempt to add some variety to our car rides.  She loves it.  Now we switch back and forth between Veggies Tales and Abba depending on her mood.  Yesterday, while getting ready for preschool, she asked if we could listen to Abba in the car.  I told her that would be fine.  She then said, "I want the Dancing Queen!"

I'm not sure how to feel about the whole thing.  We have gone from singing, Christian veggies to the Dancing Queen.  It just made me laugh.

Happiness for the day:  All three of my children are currently napping.  This is the first nap Miss C has had in over a month.  I'm thrilled!

On another note, Monday was another good mail day.  I received these fun fat quarters in the mail from Lisa at This Domestic Bliss.  I've actually been super lucky recently in the giveaway department.  It's been fun.  Speaking of giveaways, I am joining in on the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day.  So make sure to stop back on Monday to check it out.

Finally, here is the final layout of my one and only WIP; the blocks just need to be sewn together.  I have absolutely nothing else going on.  I don't even have any ideas in the works except a skirt I might be brave enough to make for myself.  I have finished up all my projects.  It's actually kind of nice.  I think I'll finish this guy up in the next few days and take a bit of a break.  Lately, I've just felt a bit quilted-out.  I might have had too much time at the sewing machine trying to finish up all the Christmas gifts.

  1. We love veggie tales and play it in the car sometimes. Lucky for me kids really like Train.

  2. Congrats on the nap! I think it's funny what music kids decide they like.

I understand the break from quilting. I'm going to finish a quick Christmas one then I think I'm going to try my hand at some kids clothing then back to quilting.

  3. I understand the break, too. Sort of. Hee.

Try Elizabeth Mitchell - our 3-year-old LOVES her stuff, and it's most definitely adult-friendly too.

  4. ha ha, my kids don't know they can have any say in the car music!! I'll keep it that way until absolutely necessary :)
I ran out of white thread, so all my WIP's are just... sitting there. Good thread is so expensive, I just wait for sales!

  6. Kids and music, too funny! Lately, mine's on an audiobook kick in the car - we've got lots of Curious George on CD, and he's really into that, and now he's starting to like Christmas music, which is really fun. I haven't tried ABBA though, that sounds like fun!

As for your WiP, it's beautiful. Take some time off, though, you totally deserve it!

  9. Love the quilt, and Abba? Oh my! Until recently my car only had a very old cassette tape player. Now we have a car with a CD player, but I still just listen to the radio (old habits die hard). Hmm... If nothing else, you just motivated me to find a few car CD's! Thanks!

  10. LOL, my 4-year-old went through a major Abba stage as well. But right now we're ALL about the Christmas music!

The lattice quilt is beautiful. Have a good break, it's a good time of year to take one! We spend too much time freaking out about the holidays and not enough time enjoying them.

Thanks for linking up with WIP Wednesday! Have a wonderful week!

  15. Know you probably have this in your blog, yet couldn't find it. Is this an Urban Lattice quilt made with Origins fabric? It looks wonderful.
I'll return Monday for your SMS post.
