A quilt for the kiddos

This quilt was my third finish the week before Thanksgiving.  This one is for my kiddos.  It's made with the Riley Blake Christmas flannel.  It's fun and bright, although the people remind me a bit of the characters on South Park.  My kids don't know what that is so we're good.  I made it with a modified version of Rachel's Color Brick Quilt-Along from Stitched in Color.  I sewed the entire quilt top in just a couple hours.  I decided not to do her sashing.  I also didn't want to worry about lining everything up, so I just cut my bricks different lengths.  I made each strip of blocks about the same length, sewed them all together and then squared it up after quilting.

The binding fabric wasn't my first choice, but it was free so I couldn't argue with that.  I ordered a bit of extra yardage from fabric.com to supplement the fat quarters I got at 1/2 price from my LQS.  They sent me quilting weight instead of the flannel I ordered.  They quickly corrected the mistake and sent out the new flannel and allowed me to keep the extra 1/2 yard.  I didn't have any other projects to use it for so it became the binding.
