Another Tuesday Giveaway

For years my color scheme around my house was neutrals with a bit of dark red.  I have really changed recently, and my current favorite color combo is teal and orange.  I would paint one of my walls teal or orange, but I don't think my husband would go for it.  We also still have that fabulous hunter green carpet from the 90's so I have to tone down the colors I add into a room sometimes.

For the giveaway this week the winner will receive four fat quarters of my favorite colors, two orange and two teal, to add to your stash.

The entry for this week is easy.  You get just one comment.  Just tell us what project is on your sewing table.  Random.org will help me select the winner next Monday, August 23rd.

On a side note, I finally got my paint swatches back from my 3-year-old.  I think I have narrowed it down to a few colors.  This is a bit more daring that I have done before, but I really want something bright and fresh in our kids bathroom, but at the same time I don't want to do a kid theme because it's also the guest bathroom.

I'm really torn between the green and aqua.  I think my top choices are the top left aqua and the bottom right green.  I might head to the store in the next few days to get some samples and see how they look.

  1. A: I don't have a sewing table.. yet! :) But curtains will be the first thing on it.

B: My vote is for the aquas. Blues are supposed to be calming and they are certainly spa-like. Green is my favorite color so for me to vote for blue is really saying something :). I also think blue and white tub/shower curtain/sink/etc. make for a really clean look. Our bathroom is green and I wish I would have done it blue.

Just some thoughts! BIG hugs, Court

  2. I have a block I am making for a member of my virtual quilting bee and I am hopefully finishing my brother & sis-in-law's quilt this week. It was a Christmas gift for last Christmas and the top has been done since 2 days before Christmas but I have yet to finish it!

I like all your color choices but the aquas might work better with your hunter colored carpet. It's hard to say though. Our home is done in similar shades so I'm a fan of all the colors you picked out.

  3. What isn't on my sewing table! Tee Hee Hee. I think I have 5 quilts in process and I just joined the Brown Bag Quilt Contest and will probably be joining another quilt a-long soon. So fun!

I did one of my bathrooms in about the same color green you have choose and love it. I was in the same boat, kids bathroom but also guest bathroom. It turned out great! As I am sure yours will.

  4. Great giveaway! The project on my sewing table right now is a t-shirt quilt for my daughter. As for paint colors, I love the green. Such a fun color!

  5. Great giveaway! I have a blanket for my daughter, a quilt for me, and a couple of things for the shop on my sewing table.

  6. Oh, love those colors too! On my sewing table right now is a big empty bin which used to hold scraps that I've now moved into color-separated littler bins, a table runner that I'm currently in the process of straight-line quilting, and piles of other things that need to be put away into new homes since I'm still in the process of a sewing room reorganization.

  7. My husband painted one of the walls in our bedroom orange and we love it, although it's definitely not for everyone.

I've always got a million projects in various stages of completion. Right now, I'm trying to get some work done on a quilt to be put up for silent auction for a friend of a family member. It's due in less than a month so I best get crackin'.

  9. Right now I am in the process of pinning an Hawaiian quilt top together - a class that I'm taking online at quiltuniversity.com

I personally would go with the aqua for the bathroom - I think you would have an easier time getting accent pieces (towels, shower curtain, rug, etc).

  10. I am currently working on a patriotic table runner. I wish I could say that I plan so far ahead that I'm working on it for next 4th of July. The reality is that I bought it in May & just got around to cutting it out last night!

I think that I'd go for the green paint, but the teal is great too!

  11. I am making table runners with funky log cabin squares in jewel colours! Thanks for the chance! I love the teal!!

  12. Wonderful giveaway! I'm liking the green wall color. A lighter green would probably be easier to match with linens, curtain, etc. We attempted to decorate a bath with aquas and found it difficult to find colors from various manufacturers that coordinated. The projects that are on my sewing table: a charity lap quilt to be sandwiched and a bed-sized Japanese fan quilt where need to try sashiko on one block to see if like it. Now, on the floor is a baby quilt where need to find a coordinating backing fabric.

  14. I have a dining table that doubles (or is taken over pretty constantly) as a sewing table. On it right now? A Double Wedding Ring quilt for my brother and his fiancee for their wedding in November this year.

  15. I have shirts, skirts and pants on my sewing table that I am altering because..ta-da..I've lost some weight, but not enough to justify getting new clothes.

After seeing that green bathroom in Ikea, I would go for the green. It would really brighten it up for the kids and look very fresh and inviting for guests.

  16. I have a never ending project right now. Each month I have a block for our quilt group and when I'm not busy doing those I'm piecing together the blocks that were made for me. It's now a quilt sandwich and hopefully one of these days I'll get around to quilting it!

  17. The project I'm on now is making 10 squares for a cousin quilt. Once I get these 10 done I'll have to do 2 more sets of 10. I love the color combo you are using. Teal and Orange go well together.

I vote for the Aqua. Thanks for the giveaway chance.

  20. Hawaiian fabric that was going to be a dress but will now turn into some other things. We will see this fall when I take up the sewing thing.

I personally would enjoy a combination of your two color pallets.

  21. Incidentally, I am working on a project almost all in teal--it's a quilt for my boyfriend, whose favorite color is teal.

  22. On my sewing table, there are fabrics for lots of bee blocks, a couple of colour pencil rolls for my cousins, and a new quilt for my fiance. Thanks for the giveaway!

  23. I used an aqua named "fog" I found at Lowes for the ceiling in a bath we just had re-decorated. The walls are "Waynesboro Taupe" by Benjamin Moore paint. I love it! So peaceful! I've got to find something more upbeat for my sewing room. On my sewing table I have a small quilt made with Kaffe Fassett fabrics that my granddaughter and I made this summer when she visited for a week. It needs to be quilted so I can ship to her. Would love to have the charm squares! Best wishes. Gayle

  24. I am finishing up a quilt I am making from Amy's Creative Side ...her Simple Sampler.

  25. I love both colors. I think bathrooms need to have "clean" colors, which means no muted tones, IMO. With that said, I'd go with green. My sewing table, hmmm... I'm working on some pillow tops. My goal is to quilt them this weekend. Wish me luck.

  26. I love it - we have the same taste in colors! I would love to make a set of throw pillows from those teal and orange pieces! On my table right now is my computer as I study for the Radiography registry...but in the queue is a quilt for our bed from the Botany collection, all browns and greens and teals and robins egg blues.

  27. On my sewing table is a pillowcase for my 12yo son. He got to pick out the fabrics so he is anxiously waiting for it. Thank you for this great give-away. I love those colors also. Take care and God bless, Cory

  28. I have two "I can quilt" quilt tops that I am making for my sister and niece to suprise them with at quilt camp next month.

  29. I am finishing up a Celtic Knot Mystery top from over a year ago. As well as working on some scrappy random blocks.

I tend to lean toward blues as that is my favorite color so the teals are my choice. The colors you have shown in the blue/teal hues remind me of a spa.

  30. Hmmmm the project I have on my sewing table's my homework, some baltimore blocks, and I'm freaked out since I'm delayed in making them, lol :S

  31. Hi again!... from far away in this "small internet world" - as you said previously. :)
I'm currently working simultaneously on different pieces : some group projects and a personal 999 hexagonal pieces landscape charm-quilt.This is more than half done...still a "little" more to go ;)....
P.S. I would definitively choose aqua for the bathroom...more "zen" ;)
Thank you for the kindness give-away.

My vote is for the Aqua too, I am partial to blue colours.

  33. I am working on a quilt for my hubby. It is shades of blue and red. Just square blocks, nothing fancy, but The border is going to be in the piano key style. Actually went to cut fabric last night for the border and I couldn't get my rotary cutter apart to change the blade! I guess its broken and I don't have a spare, killed my mojo last night!

Love those colors and thanks for another great giveaway!

  34. I'm working on a t-shirt quilt for my sister & BIL - t-shirts from past marathons they ran. Never made one before so it's a fun project. Love your new choice of colors - just don't paint your walls orange!

  35. I am starting a wonky star baby quilt. Each star is a different yellow fabric, three of the stars will have an orange point. Basting an on point strip pieced baby quilt from the Swanky by chez moi line. Love all your color choices...have you thought about using them all..lighter aqua on the ceiling, darker on the walls...green as accent stripes or trim?

A hexagon quilt, with LOTS of teal, my most fav color in the world (you should try it with chocolates). And a quilt I am designing on a pink & brown batik background, with curlicues, vines, birds and big wild flowers.

  42. My sewing/cutting table is full of scrapbook junk because I'm weeding out for a garage sale... Once that is done I'm into making purses.... Can't wait.

I think I would go with the aqua...

  43. Ive got some fabric picked out for the Stash Dash at the end of the month. Everyone makes a block and someone wins them all at the end of the week. Score!

    AQUA!

  45. Oh, that orange makes my heart skip! Let's see, on my table now are 1) some star blocks in progress, a flannel buzzsaw quilt, a mini whose binding needs attaching, a color words block for the word GREEN made from 1.5" scraps, and I think that's it. I like to have options when I sit down to sew.

You mean the 4 projects on my sewing table, first is a quilt that me and my 5 sisters are doing together, the next is a fun flower quilt, hard but worth it, next is a stripe quilt I'm doing with the fabrics from my recent trip to Hawaii, and last is a hand stitched throw pillow, pattern also from my trip to Hawaii.
